Year 2 Blue
We hope that you have had fantastic summer break and are looking forward to the term ahead. We have lots of exciting things planned!
The title of our topic this term is ‘Fire! Fire!’ We can’t wait for you to share your homework projects with us! We will be finding out about the events of the Great Fire of London as well as what London was like at the time of the fire. We will also be learning about London now and the famous landmarks that can be found there.
We will be reading a book called ‘The Beasties’ in our English lessons this half term. We will use the book to help us write our own stories with different types of punctuation and sentences. We will also be learning how to write diaries and information pages.
The children will be practising their gymnastics skills during P.E. this term. Our lesson will be on a Tuesday afternoon and will be taught by Mrs Hughes. Remember, we will be awarding house points to all those children with full PE kit! Please make sure that the children have a clearly labelled white t-shirt, blue/ black shorts and black pumps or trainers.
English and Maths homework will be set every Friday and children must return their homework by the following Thursday to earn a house point! Please can the children complete homework in pencil. I’ll be awarding stickers for neatly presented homework.
Also, if children read at home please can an adult write a comment in their reading diary as they can earn points towards the Wolverham Reading Challenge!
If you have any questions, please feel free to speak to us after school,
Mrs Hughes and Mrs Jones
