Welcome to Year 2 Yellow!
I hope that you had a lovely summer break!
Our topic this term is called ‘Fire! Fire!’ I am excited to see all the homework you have been busy producing over the holidays. During this topic, we are going to learn about the events of the Great Fire of London and what London was like at the time of the fire. We will also be learning about London now and the famous landmarks that can be found there. Then we will learn about the other capital cities in the United Kingdom.
In English, we will be reading a book called ‘The Beasties’ and we will be learning how to use different types of punctuation and how to write different types of sentences. We will also be learning how to write diaries and how to write information pages.
The children will have gymnastics every week this term. I will update the details of which day it will be when it is confirmed. I will be giving out house points to those children that have their PE kit! Please make sure that the children have a white t-shirt, blue/ black shorts and black pumps or trainers. All items need to be clearly labelled with their names please!
English and maths homework will be set every Friday and children must bring their homework back by the following Thursday to earn a house point! Please can the children do all of their homework in pencil. I’ll be awarding stickers for neatly presented homework.
Also, if children read at home please can an adult write a comment in their reading diary as they can earn points for the Wolverham Reading Challenge! Remember that points mean prizes!
If you have any problems, please don’t hesitate to come in and speak to me.
