Year 3

I hope that you all had a fantastic summer holiday!

Our topic this term will be ‘Castra Deva’. We will learn all about the history of Chester and the impact that the Romans had on the area. We will also be visiting Chester on a school trip.

In literacy this half-term we will be studying the book ‘The Tunnel’. This is a fantastic book, which the children will all really enjoy reading.

Homework will be set every Friday. To earn a house point the homework must be returned by the following Thursday. Spelling homework will also be sent out on a Friday, and the spellings will be learnt throughout the week. There will be a spelling test on a Thursday, so make sure you practise!

PE will be every Friday afternoon. Whilst the weather is still nice, I am hoping we will be able to play rounders outside! Can you please make sure that the children always have their PE kits in school. House points will be awarded for those children who have their PE kit!

Finally, the children will bring home a reading book and a reading record every night. If the children read at home, can an adult please make a comment in the reading record and the children will earn a point for the Wolverham reading challenge.

I look forward to meeting all of the parents properly over the course of the autumn term.

Thanks,
Mr Grinyer
